Tomoe Shokai Co., Ltd. established

The company specialized in the retail sale of specialty gasses.

1973

Began retailing helium gas for balloons across Japan

A department within Tomoe Shokai takes its first steps into the balloon business.

1979

Takarakosan Co., Ltd. established as an independent entity

A specialist in the balloon industry, Takarakosan Co., Ltd. is born.

1982

Developed the world's first balloon with film-check valve

These balloons with an innovative one-way valve made inflating them easier than ever.

1986

Opened the ﬁrst “Balloon Shop Tuxedobear” in Japan

The shop opened in December 1986, just in time for Christmas and the New Year holiday season.

1991

T-Balloon awarded Best New Product

Our balloon was recognized by the National Association of Balloon Artists (NABA).

1996

Developed the Cluster Balloon™

We were awarded an international patent for this innovative product.

2004

ISO14001 certification granted

All departments obtained this certification regarding environmental management as part of the Tomoe Shokai Group.

2005

ibrex™ gas barrier ﬁlm developed

Development of the film paved the way for the extra-long float time of the ibrex Series balloons. Also launched in this year was the Bubble Balloon series.

2009

ibrex™ Message Balloon series launched

These balloons made use of the gas barrier film developed in 2005 resulting in extra long float time.

2010

Expanded line-up of ibrex™ Message Balloon series

Solid color 14″ and 18″ products released.

2015

Wraparound Friends series launched

These cute animal balloons made their debut.

2016

ibrex™ Series balloons launched

25″ and 29″ products launched. This year also saw the launch of the Upright Balloon series.

2017

AQUA BALLOON™ launched

125mm, 235mm and 470mm balloons launched together with an expanded ibrex™ Series 25″ in new colors and shapes.

2019

ibrex™ Series balloon inlet specification improved

Easier inflation arrives for the ibrex™ Series.

2022

Easy wrapping AQUA BALLOON™ 175mm launched

Balloon wrapping has never been easier – or looked so good!
